5 Tips For A Successful Job Interview

A successful job interview is your gateway to a professional career. No matter how qualified and experienced you are, unless you fare exceptionally well in this selection process and win the confidence of your prospective employer, you are most unlikely to get the job. Cracking an interview is not at all a difficult task. A systematic approach and some preparation can help you to be a winner. Here are 5 great tips:

Practice Mock Interviews: Take note of typical interview questions employers ask and practice answering them. Sitting before a mirror and doing it can help you see your own mannerisms and improve in deficient areas. Relate your experience and skills to the requirements of the company and demonstrate evidences of successes that have come your way in support of your candidature.

Know the Company: It?s important that you know about the company as much as possible. Be prepared with information about the company?s products, their market share, financial performance of the company and publicly declared future strategies. Your interviewers would be happy to see in you a well-informed person. Tell them how your background and skills can add value to the company.

Be Prepared: You must turn out for the interview in neat and tidy attire appropriate to the company you are interviewing with. Carry a pen and a writing pad to take notes. Remember, 55% of another person's perception of you is based on how you look. If you are not confident what to choose, go for the conservative style.

Stay Calm: Avoid tension and remain relaxed as much as possible. While taking the interview, maintain eye contact with the interviewer. Listen to the question in full and then reply. If you forget the question, you make a very bad impression. Be at the interview venue on time. If necessary, visit the office earlier to have an idea of the likely journey time. Start early keeping time for traffic delays and jams.

Follow-up: It?s absolutely important that you follow up your interview for job by writing a thank you letter. Interviewers attach lot of importance to this and many candidates get dropped just for not following up their interview process. Send the letter within 24 hours of the interview. Keeping the audience in mind, write the letter thanking the interviewers for their time and use the opportunity to reinforce your interest and eligibility for the job once again.

Some practice and determination would certainly help you to succeed.
